Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is an efficient, in-office procedure that involves inserting a tiny lighted telescope through the vaginal canal into the uterine cavity. This exam helps our doctors check for abnormalities or problems in the uterus.

Reasons for a Hysteroscopy

A hysteroscopy can be helpful in diagnosing certain conditions and identifying why a woman may be having abnormal periods or infertility. It may also be used to find and reposition an intrauterine device. The hysteroscopy will project an image on a screen for the doctor to review.  The hysteroscope can help identify abnormal tissue, polyps or fibroids, scar tissue, and to help get a better understanding of the anatomical structure of the uterus.

After the procedure, patients may experience dull cramping and light bleeding.
