Relation Between Allergies and Endometriosis

We recommend an extensive allergy evaluation based on history, family history, and allergy testing.  We understand that many studies suggest that there are differences in cytokines in the serum, peritoneal fluid, and ectopic lesions themselves.  These differences may be related to underlying fertility.  We believe that much research needs to be done for the evaluation of the immune system in patients with endometriosis.  The Endometriosis Treatment Center of America recommends precursory evaluation and identification of hyper-allergic and hypersensitivity patients as part of our quest to promote quality of life and increase fertility.

Evaluation of the immune system may be paramount in the clinical care for patients with known and active endometriosis disease.
